Śrī Bṛhad-Bhāgavatāmṛta of Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī

In volume 1 of *Śrī Bṛhad-Bhāgavatāmṛta*, the great sage Nārada, a pure devotee of Kṛṣṇa, travels from earth to heaven to the spiritual world in search of the greatest recipient of Kṛṣṇa's mercy. As he proceeds, he meets a number pure devotees of Kṛṣṇa and gives evidence to show how each of them has been favored by Kṛṣṇa. The devotees, embarrassed to hear themselves praised, recommend that Nārada visit another devotee. Nārada sees greater and greater manifestations of Kṛṣṇa's mercy, until he finds those pure souls who embody the complete manifestation of it: the exalted *gopīs* of Vraja.
